Stone witnesses of time

Stećci can be found on several localities in Kreševo. These stone tombstones from Middle Ages prove the existence of life and tradition in Kreševo. They rise on glades, castles and hills as faithful guardians of the past. Stećci and their necropolises are one of the mysteries of Bosnian history.

Large number of necropolises

Over 50 000 stećci were found in the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Epitaphs, i.e. inscriptions on stećci are of great value as primary sources for studying Bosnia in the Middle Age. With verses, words or just drawings it gives purpose and beauty to the monument that stands as a guardion of the peace of the deceased.
