The sanctuary of st. Jakov
The shrine is visited today by believers from all around the world
About 200 meters from the village of Deževice, there is a cave of unknown depth where, according to tradition, Jakov Markijski lived. The vault of the cave is smoothly rounded in some parts, which, considering the ascetic principles of Jakov Markijski, may indicate that he really lived there for some time. For centuries, locals have been calling that place the Water of St. Jakov or the Spring of St. Jakov. The water found in the cave at any time of the year is considered miraculous. Many Catholics come to the cave, especially for the celebrations of the patroness of the parish.
Relaxing landscape
Besides the sanctuary, the wider area of Deževice village is an oasis for rest. Clean air, peace and silence permeated by the murmur of a crystal clear stream will restore every atom of your strength. Green glades from every corner beckon you to lie down and observe a piece of sky peeking out from behind the peaks of the mountains that surround Deževice.
